i've downloaded about 5 different interpretation of "all along the watchtower". i am feeling loneliness creep up into my mind and i have a bad feeling about this week that is coming up. hopefully i have no premonition powers. being alone sucks, being second string friend sucks even more, knowing you are not valued is the worst, and not speaking up is beyond words.
ah, but the question the real question is, which version is your favorite? Though not as musically mind blowing as Hendrix's rendition, Dylan's original has something that the other versions lack. Perhaps its his soft spoken mumble.
I'm not gonna say don't worry, because you'll do it regardless of whether or not I say it, but try not to focus on that bad feeling. Bad things have a habit of happening while your feeling the dread of the unknown. Think about the things that you want to do and accomplish and if you can't immediatly do them, think about what you can do to get closer to them.
You're a bad ass dude, don't let someones lack of appreciation make you doubt that. You are first string, not second string material. You play lead, not rhythm guitar. You get the solos! Remember that!
dude i'm not worried. it's actually a pretty good thing when i have a bad feeling because that way when things are just regular i feel relieved and thus life will seem a good place to be. it's all about expectations, and in some cases it is best to expect the worst all the time, that way you'll happy how even the little things turn out. oh and actually i play rythm, haha! although my friend wants me to play lead for the hendrix version....ugh...tough.
Hmm, I see. Lowering your expectations so that when things go above and beyond it, things seem better. I dunno though, is it really OK to have these lowered expectations? Don't you want to have higher expectations, even if they don't always follow through?
Ah, I didn't know you were the rhythm man. Well, considering your friend wants you to play lead for Hendrix, that either means he has high expectations for you or he's terrified to tackle Jimi himself. Show him how it's done!
